The Global Digital Compact (GDC)<\/a> was proposed in the United Nations Secretary-General\u2019s Common Agenda report to outline shared principles for \u201can open, free, and secure digital future for all.\u201d These principles were presented to Heads of State and governments through the Pact of the Future during the high-level Summit of the Future<\/a>, which took place from 18 to 19 September 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Common Agenda report proposes challenges to be considered, including digital connectivity, Internet fragmentation, data protection, human rights online, and promoting a trustworthy Internet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the consultative process, the United Nations heard from everyone everywhere\u2014individuals, groups, associations, organizations, entities\u2014on what they want to see in the Global Digital Compact.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
