Extending Encryption<\/a>
In order to help people build trust in the Internet, they need to be able to feel safe on the Internet. Encryption helps with this by keeping our actions online secure. We promote the benefits of encryption to policymakers to prevent legislation that weakens this critical resource.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Influencing Internet Law<\/a>
Courts frequently decide on legal questions, and interpret statutes and regulations that affect the functioning of the Internet. We share our views with the courts to ensure that any laws that are passed support the open, globally connected, secure, and trustworthy Internet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Promoting and Defending a Multistakeholder Internet Governance Model<\/a>
We work to remove barriers to standards adoption and open doors for everyone to have their say regarding how Internet policies and standards are developed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Protecting an Open Internet<\/a>
Whether intended or not, public policies and commercial decisions can threaten the very principles that made the Internet so successful and make it less secure. We work to advocate for policies that protect the Internet\u2014not weaken it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sharing the Latest Security Knowledge<\/a>
Through the collaborative sharing of leading research on systems security, the Network and Distributed System Security (NDSS) Symposium helps the Internet community make the Internet more secure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supporting Online Trust and Safety<\/a>
We work to help newly connected Internet users develop trust and safety skills so they can have a safer online experience.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n

Older adults in Mexico are gaining scam recognition skills<\/a>, thanks to training from the Internet Society Mexico Chapter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So far, over 200 participants are able to use the Internet more securely, and their newfound tools and knowledge are helping them avoid fraud online.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
